Explore Afreeka is a Ghana-based conscious travel platform, beginning in Abia, Prampram.

Meaningful experiences · Local projects
Explore Afreeka brings together thoughtful accommodation, the living character of Prampram and positive local action. As the platform grows, this space will welcome experiences and projects shaped with the community—not placed over it.
Stay in Prampram
A short introduction to the setting, accommodation and everyday atmosphere surrounding the founding Explore Afreeka collection.
Accommodation · AbiaCoastal care · Community action
Prampram's shoreline is part of everyday life: a source of livelihood, a meeting place and a home for wildlife. Our clean-up activity brings people together to remove waste, care for the beach and encourage shared responsibility for the coast.

The aim is not simply to clean one stretch of sand. It is to support lasting awareness, community participation and a healthier coastal environment for residents, visitors and future generations.
Sea turtle conservation · In development
Explore Afreeka is supporting a developing sea-turtle conservation initiative in partnership with the Wildlife & Human Resources Organisation (WHRO). The programme is intended to combine community education, beach patrols, nest protection and carefully managed hatchery support.

The journey to the sea
A sea turtle makes its way across the sand towards the ocean as children watch nearby—a simple, powerful reminder of why protection, education and community involvement matter.
Two planned hatchery locations
These photographs show the locations before development. The intention is to transform them into managed areas that can support the protection of vulnerable nests, public education and responsible conservation activity.
Project status: The hatchery sites and wider conservation programme are being developed. This page will be updated as work progresses.

The heart of Explore Afreeka
For Shatkhia, the name evokes coastal roots, ancestral connection, help and support—a place where people come to restore and reconnect.
Here, the beach is livelihood, memory, meeting place and a responsibility shared with the community.
